Important Information About Manufacturing: What’s Causing The Delay

We’ve got a lot of news to share today!

For those of you who are in a rush, here’s a recap of everything discussed below:

1. The back-and-forth with our manufacturer about the Boost fin form caused a 2-week delay

2. Already working with 3 new companies – the press-form production begins next week

3. Estimated delivery time moved to July 2020

4. The Boost fin motor, control systems and batteries – all finalized, tested and sent to production

5. Boost App is in development – initial UX design is ready for your review

Now let’s dive in for more specific details:

We’ve run into the difficulty of finding common ground with the factory that we’ve successfully worked with before. Our manufacturer wanted to simplify the Boost fin form design for a smoother and quicker mass production. However, changing the press-form would negatively impact the functionality and performance characteristics of the Boost fin. That was a hard “NO” for us. We’ve made a promise to you to deliver an amazing product and we don’t want to lose your trust.

As a result, we’ve lost about 2 weeks trying to find a compromise. However, we’re already working with 3 new companies and are expecting the production of the press-form to start by the beginning of next week.

Due to the pandemic, we can’t get to China to discuss all the changes and supervise the production on the spot, which would help a lot. Nevertheless, we keep progressing: essential parts of the Boost fin like the motor, all control systems, and the batteries have all been finalized, approved, and sent into production. So we are only waiting to finalize the mass production of the body shell.

All in all, we’re projecting to have the press-form ready by the end of June. The mass production will begin right after that and the Boost fins will be ready for shipping in July 2020.
